I thought the point of sleep was to rest. To wake up and greet the day with, "Good morning, Morning! Hi ho, hi ho, off to tackle the day I go!" Well, the last few mornings I have been waking up thinking, "I have to get up already? But I just got done helping my sister build a ship! And I was being held at gunpoint not more than 20 minutes ago...I'm beat!" Let me tell you, dreaming is hard work! Do you ever feel that way? Sure, the ones you have where you are going on a date with Adam Levine or having Lincoln Burrows from Prison Break save your life and whisking you away are fabulous! But ones like last night, where I spent the whole night running away from some very pissed off gang members (I was holding an antique western pistol that accidentally went off while I was talking and just so happened to hit a gang guy) are exhausting. Instead of being able to run and hop off in a car, the streets were water ways. My best friend, Jackie, and I had to leap onto a floatie raft that you see at pools and paddle our way across town. Then I end up in this building where club music is playing, but it's deserted. The lights flicker from pitch black to black light. Off. On. Off. On. Almost like I am set up in a game. Kind of reminded me of Resident Evil. Then I was swarmed with big guys carrying guns. I threw up my hands, feeling very overwhelmed, and said, "I'm done. I am not running anymore..please let this just be a dream. Here I am..." Then I awake. Two minutes later my alarm goes off. Sigh.
I am tired! Internally and externally just drained. I've been proud of myself for going to sleep before midnight every night during the work week for the last few weeks (those who know me know I am a complete night owl and can easily stay up until 4am) but really I feel like I have only gotten an hour or two of sleep the last couple nights.
Oh well...next time I lose sleep to adventures in slumberland, it better include the cast from 300 and some pina coladas. S'all I'm sayin'!

A Surprise?? For Moi??
I would like to state that I have a pretty darn amazing hubby! All last week he was telling me that on Saturday (yesterday) I have to get up early so we can go and watch a rugby game at Sac State followed by a BBQ at one of the other Captain's house (the BBQ, I was excited for...the whole waking up early thing, I was not). So, Saturday comes around, I get up early, throw on clothes that I think will be suitable for both a game and an outdoors BBQ and we head out. I notice after a while we are entering a neighborhood that looks familiar (it happened to be a friend of ours) and we pull up in a driveway. I am told we are just picking this friend up on the way since he came along with us last weekend to this Captain's house. Okay, fine, no biggie. We are sitting around for a minute or two and then Kyle (our friend) offers to pop some champagne before heading out. Now that shot up a red flag for me. Champagne? Before a manly rugby game? And so early in the morning? After the look I see Matt send Kyle I then notice that they were up to something. And I was right! Minutes later some other friends of ours start walking in the front door. Apparently, Matt got everyone in cahoots to meet at the house and then be on our way to Lodi Wineries for some wine tasting (which is funny because I suggested on Thursday or Friday that we go this weekend)!
There was a group of about 8 of us and it was so much fun! We visited maybe 4 (more or less) wineries that we have yet to venture to over the course of the living here. I don't know why we haven't checked these places out in the past..the owners/employees were super nice and were actually very informative about their wine selections. One of the wineries apparently holds a silent movie night once a month and have this amazing guy come out and play the organ to the movie (the organ was one that was built for movie music and sound effects). Along with that the establishment serves wine, snacks, popcorn, etc. Fun! I totally want to go one day before we move!
After much wine tasting, the group moved along to Outback for dinner (I was craving cheesefries!). We had a couple drinks, ate great food, and enjoyed our company. After that, we called it a night. Man, wine really makes one sleepy!! I could hardly keep my eyes open on the drive home (Matt drove, not me!)! So, that was my amazing birthday surprise spent with Matt and some great friends! And they all did a great job at keeping it a secret! I think that surprises me more than the surprise itself (haha!)!

Morning Joe
I figure, "what better time than now to create a quick entry?" I'm lounging in bed, watching I Love Lucy and drinking a cup of delicious pumpkin spice latte. The weather forecast said today was supposed to be really cold and rainy. Well, looking out my window it is quite sunny doesn't look too cold to me! Weather.com said it's getting up to 67 today. :) Pretty soon I have to drag my butt out of bed and head to my internship. I would like to go to court today, so keep your fingers crossed!
The next couple weeks are looking to be pretty eventful! This weekend we have a BBQ we are attending (the same one we went to last weekend which was really fun!...until the migraine started) , Matt wants to take me out on a date to a Japanese restaurant he's heard raving reviews about, next week is my birthday (I always love birthdays I don't love turning another year older..I think this is the year I start refusing to acknowledge the change!), next weekend is St. Patties day, then after that we leave for Disney World again!!
We decided to take another Disney vacation for a couple reasons: 1.) We still have annual passes given to us from our wedding planners that we feel we need to make good use of; 2.) This is our vacation we are doing together before the hustle and bustle of packing, moving, living off bare essentials for two months; 3.) This is almost like our second honeymoon..the first one we spent the majority at the parks with family, which is totally fine!! We loved having everyone around, but we would like to go back and continue the honeymoon lol; & 4.) We just freakin' love Disney, so why not?! We are stoked...a vacation is just what we need!!
As soon as we get back we have to sort out all the stuff we plan on taking with us on the plane since on April 27th our stuff is getting packed up and moved. We also need to finalize a date to visit Boston, go from Boston to Virginia, from Virginia to Louisiana, then fly back home..all in 15 days or less. Talk about crazy and stressful!! Whatever we can do to see our loved ones before crossing the world. Okay, no more talk about the to-do's..it's starting to stress out my great morning!
Hope everyone has a good day! xo

Too Late to Start a New Year Resolution?
Is it too late to come up with a new resolution to post at least once a week?! I didn't think I would slack on this, as it is my emotion escape at times, but man have I been horrible!! So...resolution starts today!!
Well, lot's of things have been going on since my last post..lots and lots of things:
1. The verdict is in....we are moving to Japan!! We got the email early Monday morning on January 30th. I have been bracing myself for this result, so instead of breaking down and crying (like I did when the hubby told me it was a possibility back in November) I breathed a huge sigh of release that finally we knew what to start preparing for! We immediately starting booking appointments for our medical overseas clearance screenings and also to have Petrie's blood test to show he has the rabies vaccine in his system. Over all, we are very excited for the move! I have talked with many people who have been stationed in Okinawa and had nothing but great things to say about it. There are beaches everywhere (hello, we are on a sub-tropical island!), the culture is very interesting and I am excited to learn about it, so many activities available, and I'm anxious to see what base living will be like. :) Of course, I am nervous about a few things: the move itself, starting a family so far away from home, and missing my family and friends. Who knows when I will see everyone again :(
Our move date is the very end of June/1st days of July. Our belongings are getting packed up and shipped at the end of April! That means we are living off of the bare essentials for a good two months (seriously?!). I guess we will have to invest in a cheap air mattress and sheets, borrow a couple pots from friends, and buy lots of books (as our TV will be gone!). Oh boy....
2. The medical screening has been a pain in the ass. Matt was able to get all his stuff done in one day. For me? Well, I had to go back to Travis Air Force Base (an hour drive) about three or four times for dental screening, two eye appointments, hearing test, full physical, etc. Glad it is finally all taken care of and we are officially okay'd to travel. :)
3. The very same day we got the news I had a meeting with the supervisor of the juvenile probation department I applied at for an internship. It went very well and I started the following day! I have been working Tuesday through Thursday every week since then. It's going pretty well, I think. I feel a little awkward not knowing anyone, and everyone seems very busy and on the go so I feel my chances for developing relationships with anyone will take longer than usual. Lately, I have been helping out with going to court and sitting in on the case hearings. I love court. I love studying the interpersonal relationships between the attorneys and probation officer and judge...I find the whole system fascinating.
4. I forgot to mention that during my physical, I spoke with my doctor about preparing my body for pregnancy, when the time is to come. Scary stuff!! Nothing big, thought. Just was prescribed prenatals, since it doesn't hurt to start taking vitamins with folic acid. I also was prescribed folic acid to take a month before we decide to start trying. There is history of spina bifida (spelling?) in the family, my sister has it, which means I should be taking about 4 pills/day vs 1/day. Whatever I gotta do to make sure my future baby is healthy! So, with all that being done, and actually talking about this out loud, the reality is starting to set in for Matt and I that within the next 7 months we could be expecting! Ahhh!! Scary and exciting!!
Well that's about it for now! We have a few other things going on, but seeing as how the afternoon is gorgeous and sunny, my pale booty is going to the pool to catch up on some reading and relaxation :) Until next time... XO
