Alice is Back Through the Looking Glass

As you know, I had my bridal shower on Saturday...AMAZING! I had no clue just how detailed all the decorations were going to be! The whole first floor of the house was bursting with colors and flowers and Alice in Wonderland trinkets (the fake flowers even had little eyeballs glued on to them to represent the talking flowers in the movie..thanks Rach! There were dozens of them watching the party)! How the girls pulled it all off in just a few hours, I don't know. Just when I thought I saw everything, I would discover a new little detail somewhere else..hats off to you girls!
Everyone arrived around 2pm (I was running a little late because I couldn't get my darn fascinator hat pinned correctly in my hair! rrg..).  I loved seeing everyone in their tea party hats and cute dresses. We took a few pictures and headed immediately to the kitchen to snack (my mom went to TOWN on the food spread..melted chocolate and fruits, finger sammiches, chicken casserole, cupcakes, cake, scones, cookies, fruit arrangement, grape jelly meatballs..you name it, it was probably there!)  From there, we went to the dining room to eat and drink (we had lots of mixed drinks in pitchers and glasses for the girls that said "drink  me" on them lol) and play some bridal games! This is where Zach (my future nephew) showed his game-making abilities. He composed a few games for us gals to play and we had prizes for all the winners (as well as prizes for everyone for wearing hats!). We then opened gifts and then chatted for a while before most people had to leave.
All in all it was a great turnout! I love love love all my gifts and I cannot wait to use/wear them! Matt and I also got t-shirts that say Just Married in camo writing with a picture of dog tags hanging on the Just with one saying our names and wedding date and the other saying Disney World. So cute...definitely going to wear those at the Disney parks!
After the party Kaitlyn, Kristy, Zach, Adam, Rachel and I stayed up to drink (Zach had his Mt. Dew) and play board games. I think we stayed up until almost 5am!! That's okay though..it worth the dark circles under my eyes the next day when I get to hang out with people I don't see often! :)  (ps. Team Lauren Kaitlyn and Adam ROCK!)

Thanks to all my girflfriends who made the trip out and for making this weekend yet another memorable and special one! Big thanks to my mom for being so awesome and also collecting all the great decorations! Thanks to my dad for my corsage..and a BIG BIG thanks to my shower hostesses: Rachel, Kaitlyn, and Kim. It was a success and then some!!   (and thanks to Petrie for not eating my presents that are still layed out on the floor.)

Pictures coming soon!

Time to Fall Down the Rabbit Hole and into Wonderland!

So as I wait for my amazing family and friends to set up downstairs for my bridal shower, I thought I would write a little blog. At first, waking up today, I was NOT feelin' getting up out of bed. It was dark, gloomy, thundering and lightening..and pouring. YUCK! First it was hurricaning last weekend for my bachelorette party, now THIS weather for my shower? Ew Ew Ew...But then I just take a deep breath and pretend the rain is getting itself out of it's system so I have a sunshiny gorgeous day for my wedding :)  Fingers crossed! (on a plus side...right now the sky is lightening up a little..let's up it doesn't stop there!)

I'm going to rewind to last night for a minute. My good friend, Kristy (who her and her husband are family to me..and I haven't seen in about a YEAR!) arrived around midnight to attend my shower this weekend. Needless to say I was SO excited to see her!! To add a cherry on top? Around 1am someone walks through my front door and who is it? Matt's nephew Zach and his mom Kaitlyn (Matt's sister)! I had NO idea my future in-laws were coming into town! Good job, folks, for keeping such a great secret!!

So now everyone is downstairs setting up the decorations and putting out the food, mixing drinks..and I cannot WAIT to see how it turns out!! My mom and sister decided to do a Mad Hatter Theme Shower..so all the guests will be wearing hats, we have lots of food, and I have a feeling the look is going to be colorful and whimsical. (Since my wedding is a Disney wedding, and my reception has a LITTLE inspiration from Alice in Wonderland, it's only appropriate to have a crazy tea party!)

Okay, well I have to start getting pretty. I will keep you posted on how it turned out and I will post pictures once I jetset back to California! (Like I mentioned before, my camera cord is there..silly me, to forget it!)

Alrighty, can't be late, can't be late for a certain date!  xo
